The good news for senior citizens is that they are at low risk of picking up a case of head lice. The bad news is that if they are around people who have they are certainly not immune.

This means that a student may not return to school until after treatment and all nits have been removed.

Humble schools do not enforce a “no nit” policy, meaning that children with eggs only may remain in school.

Most schools around The Woodlands and Spring will allow students back in school once they have begun treatment and no live lice are present. Tomball Public Schools Because lice spread so easily, the District will need to exclude any student found to have live lice until after one treatment of an FDA-approved shampoo or cream rinse. If careful observation indicates that a student has head lice, the school nurse will contact the student’s parent and inform the parent that the student will need to be picked up from school and will need to stay home until after an initial treatment is applied.

This district allows children with nits to remain in school but takes a proactive stance in helping families to eradicate cases of head lice.

Pasadena schools allow children with nits to return to school after treatment, but students with live lice will be sent home.
