Escondido School Head Lice Policy

Escondido School Head Lice Policy

Updated on

Schools in the Escondido area do not adhere to a strict “no nit” policy, which means students without live bugs are allowed to remain in the classroom.

If you suspect your child may have head lice, or have any questions about the prevention and treatment of head lice, contact your school Health Technician for additional information.

Parents/Guardians of students identified with live head lice will be contacted to pick the student up from school, and will be provided with additional information on the treatment of head lice. The student may return to the classroom when he/she is free of live head lice. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to bring the student to the Health Office the next morning to be checked for live head lice. Students with nits only may remain at school, and parent/guardian will receive a letter regarding the treatment of nits. If an elementary student is identified at school with live head lice, all of the students in the class will be checked.

If two students in the class are identified with live head lice, a classroom notification will be sent home.  Source EUSD Health Information
