School Lice Policies

Melbourne and Palm Bay are both served by Brevard Public Schools, which allows students with nits to attend school, but not students with live lice.

Schools in Lincoln allow students to attend school if they have nits, and students with live lice may remain until the end of the school day. This is consistent with practices recommended by the CDC and the National Association of School Nurses.

Schools in Moore have dropped their “no nit” policies, but only until the end of day one. If a child does not have live bugs, he or she can remain in school until the end of the day. Day 2, all nits (lice eggs) must be gone for readmission to school.
