School Lice Policies

Each school district in the Dayton area is responsible for establishing its own head lice policy. Many district no longer retain "no nit" policies which prohibit students from returning to school until all lice eggs have been extracted.

The Sussex County Health Department states that "Children should be excluded from school if they are experiencing head scratching and live lice are present."

Effective March 18, 2014, Broward County schools updated their guidelines regarding school admission with head lice. The revised administrative guidelines stated that students with head lice would be allowed to attend school while undergoing treatment for the nits.
