School Lice Policies

Per the Kansas Department of Education website, it is recommended that Kansas schools drop “no nit” policies, which prohibit children with lice eggs from entering school. The recommendation is based on advice from the Centers for Disease Control, American Association of Pediatrics, and the National Association of School Nurses.

Little Rock schools have dropped their "no nit" policies, but do not allow students to remain in school with live bugs.

The Kansas Bureau of Epidemiology and Public Health Informatics recently changed its policy regarding admission to the school. It is no longer mandatory for children to be "nit-free" in order to be admitted back into school.
