Schools do not always post their head lice policies online, but we have researched and found the following information for your convenience. It appears that district wide schools in this area do not enforce a strict "no nit" head lice policy.
WEST COVINA
Students in West Covina schools do not adhere to a strict no-nit policy, and instead send children found to have live lice or nits home with information to begin treatment.
If a student is found with active, adult head lice, he/she shall be allowed to stay in school until the end of the school day. The parent/guardian of any such student shall be given information about the treatment of head lice and encouraged to begin treatment of the student immediately and to check all members of the family. The parent/guardian also shall be informed that the student shall be checked upon return to school the next day.
Upon the student’s return to school, the school nurse or designee shall check the student for active head lice. If it is determined that the student remains infected with head lice, the school nurse or designee shall contact the student’s parent/guardian to discuss treatment. As needed, he/she may provide additional resources and/or referral to the local health department, health care providers, or other agencies.
If a student is found consistently infested with head lice, he/she may be referred to a multiaction team, which may consist of the school nurse, representatives from the local health department and social services, and other appropriate individuals, to determine the best approach for identifying and resolving problems contributing to the student’s head lice infestations.
When it is determined that two or more students in a class are infested with head lice, the principal or designee will notify parents/guardians of students in that class and provide them with information about the detection and treatment of head lice. Staff shall maintain the privacy of students identified as having head lice.

Once treatment has begun, and there are no more live bugs, students in the Baldwin Park USD are no longer excluded from the classroom.
Head Lice
Because head lice are not uncommon and are easily spread, the Superintendent or designee shall send information about the treatment and control of head lice to parents/guardians as needed to prevent the spread of infestations. As part of the health curriculum, teachers shall stress the importance of preventive measures.
The Board of Education recognizes that responsibility for the treatment of head lice rests with the home. When lice or untreated nits are found, the student shall be sent home as soon as possible with proper parental notification.
Staff shall make every effort to maintain the privacy of students identified as having head lice and excluded for treatment.
GLENDORA
According to a telephone call with an administrator at a Glendora USD Elementary school, the district wide policy is to allow children with a few nits to remain in school. Only when live bugs or an excessive (more than a few) number of eggs or nits are found will the student be sent home.
