Schools in Layton and Kaysville, Utah in the Davis School District do not have a “no nit” school lice policy. Children found with live head lice will not be removed from the classroom and may return to school the following day after treatment.

LAYTON AND KAYSVILLE AREA SCHOOLS

“When a case of live head lice (visualization of live louse) is confirmed the student shall not be removed from the classroom. The parent/guardian shall be notified to pick up the student at the end of the day and should be given instruction about the treatment of lice and their responsibility to treat the student prior to returning the student to school the next day.

(“Lice Checklist for Parent/Guardians” and UDOH “Head Lice Fact Sheet”)

If nits are observed within 1/4” of the scalp contact the parent/guardian to inform them and determine if the student has been previously treated. If student has not been treated, he/she will need to be treated before returning to school.”
