Why Choose Us in Louisville?

Lice Treatment in Louisville, KY

If you live in Louisville or the surrounding area, we want to be your go-to whenever you have to deal with head lice. Lice can be annoying and an inconvenience; most Louisville area schools have a “no live lice policy,” meaning that if your child has lice, you may get the unwanted call to come pick him or her up because another louse was spotted. We work diligently to make sure our delousing process is as fast and thorough as possible. We can get you a written note for your children to return to school the next day, so you can go back to everyday life quickly and prevent missed school days and lost income.

Lice are no one’s fault; nits (lice eggs) are not even visible for the first few  days after they are laid on the hair, and once they do mature, they are only slightly larger than a grain of sand. Lice and nits never wash out of the hair. Every single nit must be removed, and follow-up is needed to keep nits away. Our follow-up process is simple to apply and prevents you from having to bag, clean, and do the laundry; you will just use healthy natural oils on the hair overnight to protect it. And, we have a 99.6% success rate so we must be doing something right!  We guarantee that the lice will not be back to bug you later.

Treatments are safe for all ages and types of hair and we’ve never had any bad reactions or side effects treating 500,000 clients over the past two decades. Your process is chemical-free and we do the hard work of physical lice and nit removal, which has stood the test of the ages, so you don’t have to. Our board-certified physician, Dr. Stephen Beck, and the watch group, National Pediculosis Association, advise against trying any gimmicky new treatment methods as they may be ineffective and overpriced. They recommend our chemical-free method of treating lice—proper tools, a lot of know-how, and committing to meticulous combing and nitpicking. This is exactly what your local technician will do for you.

Top Notch Lice Services at Your Home in Louisville

Some parents in Louisville choose to treat head lice on their own. If you are one, then you know how frustrating it is. Just when you think you have conquered the lice, back they are. Lice have become resistant to the chemicals lice treatments. The lice kits provide you with a flimsy plastic comb that the family is supposed to use on each other to extract the nits. Without the right tools, technique, and expertise, the whole process is a pain that usually ends up not taking care of the problem. The lice then return after a couple of weeks. LiceDoctors is available 7am to midnight every day, and we can help.

Our lice treatment service is available in the following Louisville area cities:  Audubon Park, Bancroft,  Bellewood, Clarksville (IN), D Goshen, Hollyvilla, Jeffersontown, Middletown, Mount Washington, New Albany (IN),  St. Matthews, Shelbyville, Shepherdsville, Shively, Springlee, and more.

Louisville FAQs

What are the symptoms of head lice?

Some people have itchy scalps as a result of head lice, while other people with lice may be asymptomatic. Since head lice race through hair, they are harder to find than nits. Use a magnifying glass and extra light and look for translucent eggs that are glued to the hair near the scalp. Outdoor light is the best light for viewing so bring your kids outside of your Louisville home for lice hunting. If you prefer, give us a call and we will help out today.

How are head lice spread?

Lice transmission is almost exclusively from head-to-head contact. In theory, your child could catch lice from sharing objects like backpacks, jackets, or hair clips, but this is far less common. Even less frequently are lice spread on your couch or chair. Human head lice are not transmissible through animals or being outside in Louisville.

How do I kill lice in the house?

At LiceDoctors, we get this question a lot from Louisville families. You don’t have to bag all the stuffed animals and dolls or vacuum all the rugs in the home. Lice and nits cannot last for more than 24 hours off the head.

But what if I saw a louse crawling on a counter, or a hair with a nit on my sofa?

If you see live bugs on something that someone with active lice has recently touched, you can clean the surface with a wet paper towel or with a sticky lint roller, or, if it is a small item, you can put it in sub-freezing temperatures overnight, and that will do it. If a hair with a nit attached falls from the head, the nit won’t hatch. Like most eggs, the nits need to be incubated by the heat of the head to hatch. Even if you do NO laundry or cleaning, your LiceDoctors process is still guaranteed to work.
