Head lice and school policies vary among schools. Until recent years, schools held to “No Lice” policies. This meant that children would not be admitted to school with any signs of lice or eggs (nits). Based on recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics, many schools have revised their head lice at school policy, now permitting children with lice or nits to remain in class.
Schools, whether they have adopted the more lenient lice at school policy guidelines or not, do not want to have to deal with a widespread lice outbreak. Schools with more permissive lice policies are at higher risk of dealing with a major infestation. Young children are at the highest risk of contracting lice as they often play together in close contact and lice are spread through head to head contact.

Your lice technicians will come to your school, equipped to check the students in a timely fashion. Technicians bring their own supplies and know-how to identify any active head lice in school children.
The technicians will inspect each child’s head. They will divide the hair into sections so that they can see the bugs and nits; both head lice and nits camouflage in the hair making them difficult to find without the proper technique and expertise. Children are not the only ones susceptible to head lice. Anyone with hair is a candidate so generally technicians also carefully screen teachers and other staff who are in contact with the children. As with our lice checks on children, your techs will do a section by section check on each head to ensure that no small nits or bugs are missed.
When a case is identified on a child or teacher, you have the option to treat on your own or have us discreetly administer a safe, thorough, and effective step-by-step lice treatment. Once the child has been treated by us, he or she can return to activities.
