Baytown (Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District) Students with live bugs will not be permitted in school, while children who have only nits may remain. “In 2013, the Texas Department of State Health Services removed Pediculosis from its list of conditions requiring exclusion from school. Students found to be symptomatic of live lice infestation will be assessed by school nurse. Pearland School District Head Lice Policy

This district allows students with nits to remain in school, but sends children home if they have live bugs. “Children are sent home if live lice are found and may return after one treatment. Students are rechecked when returning to school, and again in one week. Children are not sent home if only nits are found. For a copy of the TDH recommended” “Pearland ISD staff does not routinely screen for head lice. If there is a suspected case, the nurse or healthcare assistant will perform a head check on the student and follow up with a phone call to the parent if live lice are found.

Please call the nurse if you discover that your child has lice. You will need to treat your child for lice before they can return to school.
Norfolk School District Lice Policy

Norfolk still retains its "no nit" policy and requests that parents of affected students seek treatment immediately to control and eliminate the active infestation before a child returns to school. Head Lice: Screening for head lice is done as the need arises. Infected children will be excluded from school until treatment is received and lice are cleared. We suggest that you examine your child's hair at the beginning of the school year and periodically throughout the year.
