The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) has launched a curriculum that educates people about head lice.

About Lice Lessons

Lice Lessons was designed by the NASN in collaboration with Arbor Pharmaceuticals to provide information to health professionals and parents about head lice. The goal is to educate people in order to minimize stress and lessen the stigma associated with head lice. Below are the lessons:

Bethesda Public Schools Lice Policy

Students with viable nits are not permitted to stay in school. “Students will be checked for head lice by the school nurse when demonstrating symptoms of infestation. Parents of students with live lice or an active infestation will be asked to pick up their child as soon as possible to begin the treatment process. Palmdale and Lancaster School Head Lice Policies

Both Palmdale and Lancaster School districts will allow students to remain in class if they have nits only. If live lice are found, the students’ parents or guardians will be notified and they will be sent home to begin treatment.
