Lexington FAQs

Q: Is your treatment safe for the elderly and infirm living in nursing or group homes?
A: Yes! The treatment is all natural so it is safe and effective for everyone. If you have a loved one living in a nursing home in Lexington, a compassionate and experienced LiceDoctors technician can treat that person by making a house call to the nursing home.
Q: How do I check myself for head lice?
A: If you are a single individual living alone, or a mom (we see you!) needing an effective way to check yourself for head lice, apply some form of lubricant to your hair – like olive or coconut oil or your regular conditioner for example. With a good quality nit comb – Terminator brand nit comb is the best we’ve found ( https://www.licedoctors.com/best-lice-treatment-products/lice-comb) – comb your hair in small sections, focusing behind the ears and at the nape of the neck. Wipe the comb off on a white paper towel or wet wipe. You’ll be looking for signs of lice like a bug or a few nits. Check out our blog to see exactly what you should look for. https://www.licedoctors.com/blog/how-do-you-tell-the-difference-between-lice-and-nits.html. If you find lice or nets, we can dispatch a technician to your Lexington home to treat you. It is very difficult to treat yourself.
Q: Are lice contagious?
A: A lice infestation, where live bugs are present, would be considered contagious. Bugs are transmitted most often via head to head contact with an infested individual. If nits only are present, the case of lice is not contagious. Nits are glued to the individual hair strands and they do not transfer.  The caveat with this is about a week after the nits hatch, the baby bugs that emerged would be contagious. If one of your Lexington friends has head lice, we should consider it contagious.

Client Testimonials

  • Embarrassed Teen Wants Privacy Of In-Home Visit "My 15-year-old daughter was horrified to find out she had head lice. She absolutely refused to go to any salon and we were lucky that our doctor recommended LiceDoctors and that you came to us so we could maintain privacy. Jen was terrific and my daughter loved her. My daughter was able to go to school the next day and the lice did not return. Thank you." - Alex L. in Lexington, Kentucky

  • Lice Attend Yoga Class "You can't make this stuff up. I was sitting in my yoga class and at the end we do a sitting meditation. I was totally mellowed out in a Zen state when I saw a louse crawling down my arm. I went from 0 to 100+ in anxiety In two seconds. My fellow yogis is looked at me as I was flapping around and I had to tell everybody what I saw. Well that was the cause of a big laugh at my expense. Fortunately one of my yoga sisters had gone through this with her family and told me to call LiceDoctors. I knew I could count on her advice and she did not let me down. LiceDoctors was responsive, so knowledgeable, and possessed the know-how to calm me down...better than even meditation! I recommend them to anyone who has lice!" - Patricia G., Paris, Kentucky

  • LiceDoctors Helps Family Who Had Battled Lice for Five Months "Bless you, LiceDoctors. You came to us when my family was at a low point. We had tried everything the doctor recommended and everything the pharmacist recommended and nothing was working. This had gone on for five months and I had nothing I had not done. I literally did not know where to turn when by pure luck I overheard two women in the store talking about their children's head lice and the company that they went to: LiceDoctors. I immediately went home and looked you up and called you. I had never even heard of a professional lice removal service. Your phone person was so welcoming and knowledgeable and assured me that she would have a technician out to us within the hour. Leanne was kind and super-competent and got us cleaned up very quickly without the use of chemicals, which made me very happy as I had already foolishly put way too many chemicals on my kids heads. Don't wait as long as we did. Call LiceDoctors today." - Jeannette P. in Frankfurt, KY

  • Chemicals Did Not Work, LiceDoctors Did! “I don’t know what we would’ve done without LiceDoctors! When the school nurse told me that both of my kids had lice I went out and bought RID. I followed up the shampoo with what I thought was exhaustive combing but sure enough they were back the next day... even two live ones plus a bunch of nits. I saw the writing on the wall and knew that this was going to be a task that I would not be able to master. At that point I called my pediatrician who advised me to call LiceDoctors. Your technician did an excellent job and showed me what to do for after she left and how to help prevent lice again. We loved her, although, no offense, I will be happy not to see her again! :). Thanks for everything. You are the best!" - Ilene Y. in Winchester, Kentucky
