“I just got home from a bridal shower where one of the woman at my table was telling us that her granddaughter had a case of head lice that wouldn’t go away. Honestly, she was lucky they sat me with her because I had just finished using LiceDoctors for my grandson. I don’t know if she called them but I’m guessing she did. I highly recommended them. The technician was courteous, smart, professional, and very kind to all of us. She patiently answered all of our questions. I was very pleased with the service they provide.” – Loretta N. in Summerville, South Carolina

Birthday Surprise Not a Happy One
“It was my 60th birthday party and my head was itching me like crazy. My husband took a look and didn’t see anything but I knew something was up. Anyway, at the dinner celebration, my friend parted my hair and there were actually bugs crawling around my scalp. Bummer- I wasn’t happy. Needless to say I got home, went on the internet and found LiceDoctors. They came over really early the next morning and cured me. I will never forget this birthday. Bless you, LiceDoctors.” – Lynette L. in Charleston, South Carolina
Can Boys With Crew Cuts Get Head Lice?
Many people assume if a person has a crew cut that he is immune to getting lice. This is not true. The nits need only a little bit of hair on which to reside while feeding from blood in the scalp–their food source. True that people with crew cuts are less likely to get lice than is someone with long tresses but that is because short hair is harder for the bugs to access.
Our LiceDoctors technician combed the lice and nits on the paper towel (in the picture in the picture to the right) out of the head of an 8 year old boy in the Charleston area. His sister was found to have a lice infestation in school and was sent home by the school nurse. The school nurse did not check the boy because like many people she assumed that he was not a candidate for lice. In this case brother and sister play together quite often and big sister transmitted the bugs to her brother.
If a child has longer hair and cuts it into a crew cut, there will likely still be lice left near the scalp. Unless the child is shaved totally bald with no hair, lice can cling to whatever tiny bit of hair is left. Lice need the temperature of the scalp and human blood to survive, no matter the length of hair.
If your child with a crew cut is scratching his head or if a sibling has lice, be sure to check that child. If you find lice or are unsure, give LiceDoctors a call in Charleston and all surrounding areas and an experienced technician will be there at the time that you want..
