“My kids came home with head lice and this time I didn’t waste any time. Two years ago, when we lived in Houston, my kids had lice and I wasted time and money on chemical treatments, both drug store and prescription, that did not work. Then I got smart and called LiceDoctors. This time, I was up the learning curve and I immediately called LiceDoctors. Both times they came and did a fantastic job of getting rid of the head lice. I hope we never get lice again, but if we do, I will definitely call LiceDoctors.” Shawn J. in New Hope, Pennsylvania
“I have worked in a pediatrician’s office as a nurse for over 15 years. Our doctors used to recommend chemical treatments but we often received follow-up calls from patients complaining that they still had active cases. One day a technician from LiceDoctors came into our office and talked to us about LiceDoctors professional treatment service. We decided to give them a try and recommended a few patients. They were THRILLED with the treatment service. Since then we refer all patients infested with lice directly to LiceDoctors. They have been a huge help to our patients.” Mae W. in Solebury, PA
“My kids play on every sports team imaginable. It seems that every season at least one of them picks up a case of head lice from a team member as we hear that other members have lice. I don’t know if it’s from huddling, the locker room, hanging around together, or what ever, all I know is we deal with head lice in our family fairly regularly. It used to feel like a disaster. Now all I do is call the LiceDctors and they come and take care of us. Godsend. I don’t know what our family would do without them.” Becca T. in Doylestown, PA
“I have LiceDoctors on my speed dial along with other essential numbers like the pediatrician, my husband’s office, and my mom! They were terrific when they came out and if I ever have to deal with this problem again, I want to fast forward past the anxiety stage and go directly to them.” Leslie S. in Bensalem, PA
Will My Daughter Get Head Lice From Sharing Her Hairbrush?
It turns out that Isabella W. in Bucks County has designated herself as the second grade hairstylist. She recently told her mom, who called us in a panic, that when her friends come over for play dates, she loves to style their hair. Of course she uses her own hairbrush. Mom was not happy to hear that especially since head lice have been going around the school. Isabella’s mom wonders how likely it is that her daughter has picked up head lice from another child through her hairbrush.
While we at LiceDoctors do not recommend sharing hairbrushes, it is actually more likely that Isabella would get head lice from playing with her friend than from the hairbrush. The reality is the bugs usually do not end up on a hairbrush. They scoot around the hair and when they sense another human head nearby they will crawl from one head to another. Head lice feed from the head and they need that blood in order to survive. They do not like to reside in a hairbrush because without blood they will die within a day.
Nonetheless, it is understandable that Isabella’s mom would be concerned and dismayed to learn that her daughter is using her hairbrush on other girls’ hair. It is not a good idea to share hairbrushes, caps or helmets because it is possible to transmit head lice through those vectors. Keep in mind though that over 90% of cases of head lice are transmitted from one human head to directly to another one so unless your child lives in a bubble, he or she is at risk of getting head lice from a classmate or friend; lice are a common occurrence in today’s world. If you find lice in your family, there is an easy solution: call LiceDoctors and an expert lice professional will be at your residence at a time that works best for your schedule.
