Lice Treatment Client Testimonials
“It is not that often that I find a service off the Internet but I needed lice removal help and didn’t know where else to turn. It turned out to be a great move because LiceDoctors was perfect. They came right to my house in a regular car (no neon signs!) within an hour of my call. Within 3 hours all 5 of us in my family had been checked and treated. Bye bye head lice!”

“I was the PTA president at my kids’ school and after repeated head lice outbreaks, I knew we needed to bring in a lice expert to speak to the parents. LiceDoctors came and did a wonderful and informative presentation and answered a lot of questions. Parents were impressed and some of them have called LiceDoctors for help. Everyone has been more than satisfied. Finally, I feel like we have gotten this school lice outbreak behind us.”

“My daughter left me in charge of her 2 daughters for a week and the school nurse called me with the news that one of my granddaughters had a case of head lice. I didn’t know a thing about lice and I knew I needed help. When my daughter was young, we didn’t know a soul who had it. I called my daughter’s neighbor who suggested that I call LiceDoctors. The lady who came was lovely and she showed me every step of the way exactly what she was doing. My granddaughter was all clear when my daughter came home. Bless you, LiceDoctors.”

“Thanks, LiceDoctors for coming to my rescue when I got head lice at college. Tracy the tech was discreet and thorough. She got me to relax when I was freaking out. Thankfully she got those gross bugs out of my hair. I am your biggest fan!”
Carmen D. from Flemington, New Jersey
“My best friend is a pediatrician. Lucky me because when I got the call from the school nurse that both of my kids had head lice I called her right away. She advised me to call LiceDoctors and not to waste my money on those commercial products. She said she used to send patients to buy the products or she would prescribe something, but then inevitably the patients would be calling her back complaining that they still had lice. She said once she wised up and started to refer patients to you, she has only gotten positive feedback. Well as usual, she was right, and the whole experience from the initial phone call to you, to your tech arriving exactly when I wanted her, to her lovely bedside manner, and the end results, exceeded our expectations. I thought you would like to hear from a very happy client who has now referred you to a number of friends.”

What Are the Symptoms of Head Lice?
Most people associate head lice with having an itchy scalp. As long as they are not scratching their heads or seeing their children scratching, they assume that they are safe. Take it from us at LiceDoctors, that is not always the case. Some people are very sensitive to lice and they may feel itchy if one bug is in the hair. Other people are impervious to the lice and they may have several lice bites and not feel itchy at all.
Think mosquitoes. When head lice get onto your head, they feed from the human scalp; head lice need human blood to survive. The bugs feed three times a day and like mosquitoes, there may be little bites on the scalp. We all know people who are very sensitive to mosquito bites and others appear to be unbothered by them. As with mosquitoes, when a person is sensitive to lice bites, he/she will scratch. The scratching inflames the bites and the head becomes more itchy. In some cases, the child is not at all sensitive to the head lice bites and will show no symptoms at all. In those cases, a person may have bugs and nits on the head for months before detection. There may be thousands of bugs and nits in the hair.
Often, a child with head lice will show no symptoms for the first few weeks after becoming infested. As the lice reproduce and a second generation of lice develop, the bites become more prevalent and the child become itchier. Parents often feel remiss that they did not discover that their child had lice until there was a full-blown infestation. We let parents know that their child likely did not start scratching until there were already many lice and nits in the hair.
Besides itchiness and the accompanying head scratching, there are physical symptoms of head lice that are more challenging for an untrained person to detect. A child with lice has translucent, sesame seed sized eggs in the hair. These lice eggs (nits) encase a baby louse (nymph) and are glued to the hair shaft. They must be picked out of the hair; they do not flake off. You must physically remove every nit from the hair or you have not eradicated the case of head lice. Nits camouflage in the hair making them difficult to find for the untrained eye.
Finding live lice in the hair is an even harder task. The lice are elusive as they move very rapidly when the hair is moved or when a light shines on the head. If there is a heavy infestation, you may see a louse crawl out of the hair. It is especially difficult to diagnose lice in your own hair. Leave lice-picking to the professionals!
