Client Testimonials for Grand Rapids – Lansing
“I’m not doing sleepovers anymore. My daughter keeps getting lice. These kids are sleeping head to head and they keep spreading it back and forth. Again I had to call a company to come in and help me. This time though I called LiceDoctors and besides treating the lice they educated me on how to avoid getting it again. Good pick on my part. :)” – Katie J. in Lansing, Michigan
“I am praying for a lice free world. I can’t stand this anymore. I couldn’t get rid of this infestation until I called LiceDoctors. I’m not kidding, I went to 3 different lice companies and my kids still had lice. LiceDoctors knows what they’re doing and I swear I was about to give up. Call them first and save yourself a lot of aggravation.” – Elizabeth W. in Grand Rapids, Michigan
“They were back again. This was a continuing nightmare for me. No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of these nits on my daughter’s head. I had to give in and call someone to help me. I really didn’t want to spend the money but I had no choice. LiceDoctors came the same day and now we’re lice free. It wasn’t even expensive considering what I had already spent on the chemicals. I would call them first if I had to do it again.” – Kacie H. in Wyoming, Michigan
“LiceDoctors–our family loves you. It amazes us that you came, you saw, and you conquered those lice in 2 hours. We had wasted 2 weeks and had made little to no progress, although we sure spent plenty of time and money in the process. Your name is golden in our family.” – Jeff R. from Ionia, Michigan
Michigan’s Cold Weather Doesn’t Discourage Head Lice
We often calls from families in Grand Rapids and Lansing area asking how it is possible that their children have head lice in the middle of the winter. Parents ask, “doesn’t the cold weather kill head lice?” The answer is no.
Once there is a case in a classroom or a family or among friends, the lice will move from head to head, regardless of the weather. To survive head lice need human blood and the temperature of the head. Lice feed three times a day, and as long as they have a food source they will survive. Head lice are incredibly hearty which is why they have been around for thousands of years.
We do tend to see a higher incidence of head lice during the warm weather months, not because of the air temperature, but because children are outside playing. This close contact allows for head to head contact and the transmission of head lice. Cold weather, in and of itself, is irrelevant to head lice.
Even in the middle of a cold winter, LiceDoctors recommends that you do regular lice checks on your children. Bring them to a bright light and check to see if there are translucent eggs stuck to the hair. Of course excessive scratching is a telltale sign, but not everybody who has head lice manifests signs of itchiness. If you find head lice, give us a call today and we will get rid of your head lice problem. Call LiceDoctors in the Lansing and Grand Rapids area at 616-965-2591.
