“I had the shock of a lifetime. I took my 3 boys to get a haircut and I was informed 2 of the 3 had lice. OMG !!!! I immediately grabbed my phone and googled lice removal in the house, and I got the phone # for the LiceDoctors. I called about 5 pm on a Sunday evening, and Tina was in my home by 7:15 pm . She was very sweet, knowledgable and immediately went to work on removing this big headache for me. Hopefully this lice problem will be a distant memory. I would highly recommend this service. Also, I like the idea that they use olive oil (all natural ingredients) since one of my boys is only 3 years old.” – Robin T. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Google Plus, 5 stars
“I’m a Mom and a third grade teacher. When some of my students developed lice, the school nurse told me to be sure I was checked too so my own kids wouldn’t get it. Too late, two out of three already had it. Luckily, one of my students had been treated by LiceDoctors so I knew who to call. It was quick and easy, and now I’m sort of a lice expert myself. Well, almost. Thanks, LiceDoctors.” Heidi F. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
“I lived in fear of one of my kids getting lice. Well the day came and I can’t believe how painless it was after I called LiceDoctors. From your kind and informative phone person to the impressively expert technician, to the easy to do follow-up plan, everything went like clockwork. I am way better informed about head lice and if we come upon them again, I will call LiceDoctors immediately!” Sarita K. in Pompano Beach, FL
“Everyone in our area uses LiceDoctors so I knew whom to call when I found a bug in my daughter’s hair. I was amazed that Tracy answered the phone at 10 pm and had a tech at my home at 8 am the next morning. Kelly was meticulous in her nitpicking and very nice to my kids. We are all lice-free and very grateful to the LiceDoctors.” Sherry L. in Hallandale, Florida

Uh Oh…My Child Has Head Lice; How Do I Protect the Rest of Us?
You just found out that your child has head lice… what do you plan to do? Of course, you would love to don a hazmat suit, or better yet put your child in a hazmat suit, so that nobody else in the family will become infested. Maybe you want to crawl under the covers and hope the lice go away by themselves. All are understandable options, but not too useful. Since these are not realistic solutions, there has to be a better choice. In fact, you need a way to clear up the lice in your infested child AND make sure that the rest of the family does not already have it or will not get it.
Your next thought is how do I prevent the lice from infesting all of my family members? Recently, a Broward County parent, Andrea J., asked that very question. “I wasn’t positive that I wanted to hire a professional service. Even though lice creep me out, I thought I would try to treat my daughter myself with a do-it-yourself treatment and then I discovered that my son had it too. Now I was a total wreck, living in fear that the case would spread to my other kids and to myself and my husband.” Like many other parents Andrea ran to the drugstore and bought chemical lice shampoos and applied them to everyone’s heads. This is never a good idea; you should never use lice treatments as a preventative. In addition, head lice have mutated and the chemicals are often no longer effective in treating lice. Next Andrea spent hours doing laundry and cleaning the house. A week later she found lice in her other two daughters’ hair. She then checked the other kids’ hair and much to her chagrin found more bugs.
At that point, Andrea asked some of her friends in Fort Lauderdale for suggestions for a lice treatment service. She wanted an in-home service to optimize privacy and convenience. Her friends suggested that she call LiceDoctors and we came and took care of her family. While we were there, Andrea asked our technician how does one contain the spread of lice within a family? Unfortunately, since lice are spread through head-to-head contact, it is very difficult to prevent the spread within the family unless a case is caught very early on. In about three quarters of the families whom we are called in to treat, the child has already passed it on to the mom and/or siblings. Dads are less likely to get head lice because they generally have short hair and also, possibly, because lice do not like testosterone.
Since self-treatment is generally less effective than professional treatment, the risk of spreading the head lice to other family members increases. Since lice are highly resistant to chemicals, often parents unwittingly leave nits in the hair that then hatch and in a week or so the child is contagious again. To prevent the spread of head lice in your family, don’t waste time. Call LiceDoctors in Broward County at 954-606-6473 and a knowledgeable and experienced lice professional will be at your home at your earliest convenience.
