School Nurse Wholeheartedly Recommends LiceDoctors
“As a school nurse I have seen plenty of cases of head lice. It can be quite frustrating for families when I have to send their children home and not allow them back into school until they are nit free, but our school district retains a no nit policy so I must comply. In my experience LiceDoctors is an excellent choice of treatment as they invariably do such a complete job. Whenever I check a child the day after treatment they are always free. LiceDoctors helps to make my job easier and I recommend them without reservation.” – School nurse, San Jose, California
LiceDoctors Puts an End to Ongoing Lice Problem
“Head lice are a year round around problem in my area. I spent the better part of the year last year trying to get rid of the lice in my child’s hair. Honestly, I don’t know if I ever succeeded because she would be clear for a few weeks and then all of a sudden I would see them back again. When I reached the end of my rope a friend of mine suggested LiceDoctors. The woman came and was so thorough that it has now been two months and still no sign of lice or eggs. Let’s just say I owe my friend a nice dinner out. Thank you LiceDoctors (or as I call you “WiseDoctors”) for putting an end to this ongoing and stressful problem.” – Rita S. in Cupertino, California
Fan Letter from Appreciative Family
“Dear LiceDoctors, This is a fan letter from a very appreciative family. It wasn’t our finest hour when we realized that we all had head lice and frankly we were quite miserable. My sister had had head lice and she told me to call you rather than wasting my time with chemical treatments. Your lice technician was wonderful. She calmed us all down, which was no easy task under the circumstances, and she went to work diligently on all of the lice and eggs from our hair. She worked intensively for three hours and when she left we all felt confident and relieved. We did the follow up plan which was easy to do and it has been a month since the visit and all lice and eggs are still gone. Thank you for helping us out when we really needed you.” – Rachel D. in Palo Alto
Client Spends Less for LiceDoctors Service than she had for OTC Products
“LiceDoctors did a terrific job getting rid our head lice. I only regret not calling them sooner. The cost of their treatment was $225 for my family including travel to my home. This is compared to the $400 I spent on OTC and Rx lice treatments that did not work. LiceDoctors was a great investment and we would definitely use them again.” – Lee C. in Sunnyvale
School Teacher Catches Lice from Students
“As a preschool teacher, I am pretty familiar with head lice. I had seen enough failures from families who had tried to get rid of lice on their own with the chemical treatments to know that if I ever got a case I would hire a professional. Well, the inevitable happened, and I got head lice. Immediately I called LiceDoctors, and you guys were terrific. From the phone operator to the technician, everybody was excellent and knowledgeable. I remained calm and it turned out not to be a big deal at all. Thanks, LiceDoctors!” – Sabrina V. in San Jose, CA.

Head Lice Facts
- Head lice are wingless insects about the size of a sesame seed or smaller. They have six legs with tiny claws and live only on human scalps.
- Head lice and nits range in color from light brown to dark brown. On the scalp, they appear translucent with a brownish tinge; when placed on a white background, they are brown.
- Lice (bugs) are difficult to spot because they scoot away from the light.
- Nits (eggs) are teardrop shaped—round on one end and pointy on the other.
- Nits are glued to the hair shaft and have to be pulled off.
- Both nits and lice tend to camouflage in the hair particularly in brunettes.
- Lice are highly contagious and reproduce at a rate of 6-10 eggs per day per louse.
- Each louse can live for 30 days and may leave 200 eggs in the hair over that time.
- Head lice feed on human blood from the scalp up to 3 times daily and will die within 36 hours when off the head.
- Unhatched nits are not contagious.
- The incidence of lice and the severity of the individual cases have increased over the past several years due to an increasing resistance among lice to the chemical shampoos/pesticides.
- Today’s lice are so hearty/resistant as to be dubbed “super lice”.
- By far the most common way is head to head contact; within a family if one person has it the odds of another are over 70%
